🌟 Editor's Note
Friday is here but it’s no time to take your foot off the pedal. I’ve got a few things to share that could transform your freelance writing career :)

Tip of the Day

I’m all for Slack channels. You can network. You can learn. You can share experiences. But you can also waste A LOT of time if you’re not careful.

Every minute you spend in these channels is a minute you’re not marketing, applying for open gigs, or writing for your clients.

Gig of the Day

Christine Gomolka is looking for freelance copywriters to create content for a digital agency (AMPED).

  • Create content in these categories: residential construction, resident and commercial security, industrial labels/packages/printing, and healthcare non-profits

  • Relevant portfolio samples required

💻 Resource of the Day

Calling itself “The #1 free subject line rating tool” is a bold claim, but I wholeheartedly agree.

I write and send a lot of newsletters. And I mean a lot. This is one of only a handful of tools that I trust implicitly. Best yet, it’s free.

In A/B tests, its subject line suggestions almost always win. That’s good enough for me.

PS: I know this sounds like an ad, but it isn’t. It’s really that good.

🌐 Social Post of the Day

Kris is a top-notch writer and marketing professional. One of the best I know. Keep his advice in mind on your freelance writing journey.

📰 News of the Day

It’s okay to work a side gig (or two) while you’re getting your freelance writing career off the ground. This story is all about these side gigs.

After getting laid off from a well-paying staff job at the New York Daily News in 2006, Caitlin Kelly took a part-time job at The North Face near New York City — her first time in retail at age 50. She’d struggled to find another journalism job, and selling fleece jackets and down sleeping bags helped pay the bills.
